Feedback so far

Just thought I’d write down some feedback and suggestions:

  • The combat is fun and visceral: occasionally I notice that some skills (like Fury Leap) doesn’t go off, but I suspect this may be because of the animation being cancelled by move/attack commands.
  • The power curve is… somewhat janky. You start out fairly weak, but by Keeper Balthas escort you’re almost too strong, even in HC. Personally I think this may be too early to be curb stomping, but I understand that no one wants to lay down tactics and strategy for some trash mobs.
  • Really enjoy the aesthetic of the game, as well as character and armour design. Each feels distinct enough that there’s no overlap (I also enjoy the gender-locked characters).
  • I enjoy the overlapping archetypes from the same source: as in the “dark knight” and paladin both stem from the Sentinel and neither becomes a dark/light mage in plate, but still retains the Sentinel base. The Primalist does this excellently: barbarian-shaman-druid that still very much feels like a barbarian when he wants to.
  • Voice acting is good.
  • The build variety is crazy and I am all for it.

Now for some suggestions and maybe fixes…

  • Some old bugs are still in the game, ex. Laith’s tower: you can’t go up if you’ve gone down.
  • (Edit): some defeated mobs, especially Ospryx, ragdoll like mad.
  • Portraits in dialogue does not match the character design: seen this on several characters but I always forgot to note them down, so the latest is one of the captains in Thalima (character has a mohawk and bare arms, but his portrait does not).
  • Quest completion and stages: I think it’s wrong that a quest can progress a lot by simply moving to the objective, i.e. arriving on Lagon’s Isle, running to the side area first and reaching the moon shrines before even getting that objective.
  • The screen becomes extremely cluttered when you kill mobs and a bunch of shards and items drop: I wouldn’t mind if these were hidden until you stop swinging your weapon (can use the “recently” rule here).
  • Healing minions via their portrait.
  • Your character should have a slightly different interaction with the world based on class: for example, the Primalist says he’s from the North but seems unaware of Heorot?
  • Liven up the towns: the Keeper’s camp does this somewhat, with some npcs talking about Grael, but most others are completly silent.
  • I am not sure if we need more quests or not… not every zone should have more than one, but some areas were so empty with just one objective.
  • Character creation/customization. Some is needed, if only hair colour and/or tattoos. It needn’t be as in-depth as some others, but you spend a fair bit of time staring at your character.

That’s all I have for now! Really enjoying the game so far.

The campaing is (& always has been) very easy. It gets slightly less easy in the divine era & noteably less so in chapter 9. The devs have said that they intend to give the campaign a balance pass at some point.

It makesalts less annoying to level if you can just go to the quest objectives rather than have to sit through the same interminable quest text for the 20/30/40/50th time.

In regards to the screen clutter, you can either A: go into settings and set a key that toggles displaying dropped items on and off or B: set up an item filter to display only what you want, or C: Both

Which, from memory, is Z by default to turn off the ground labels (& X to disable the loot filter).

Your memory is close, it’s Alt+Z.

I don’t think it is by default. Mine’s just Z & I’ve not changed anything.

Interesting. I haven’t changed anything on my binding for it either and mine’s Alt+Z.

Thanks! I was playing well before 0.8.5 but don’t recall it changing, somehow it must have updated automatically when for me. It might be because I did it all through Steam. :man_shrugging:

I think that’s the dude that starts waxing poetic about some freaky “call of the waves” and wants you to go with him to embrace it. I just back away slowly and nod. “Sure, thing, bud, gimme a sec to go make sure I put coins in the meter.” Then I pretend we never met.
