Either way. A tanky character needs a dot/debuff that has a very long duration if not permanent. That fits better with the idea of a slow attacking tank. It also can’t be something where each instance does much on its own, it needs to be such that stacking them over and over is what makes them powerful. I like the idea of the tank having an “aura” that makes dots not expire on enemies within the aura. That way the tank cant just stack a few and leave the mob to die 5 minutes later.
3:halfway in between
Though the real question is; did you expect to play a high dps high survivability build?
Or would you rather play low dps dies instantly?
Because the trade off between damage and tankyness is an inherent part of games where balance actually exists.
That’s kind of my point. There isn’t an in-between. You can either take more than 1 high damage shot, or you can do damage. Boardman has been proving me wrong left and right with his vids lately though, unless exang and boots get nerfed this topic is just plain incorrect at this point.
It just turns out that to do high damage and be highly survivable, you have to ignore traditional protections and play a low-life ward build.
My deaths oath is inbetween, you will still die to bosses if you play like an idiot(as they deal about 33-50% of your hp per hit). But it is rather good at surviving mob packs attacking it due to life leech.
There is allways an inbetween, even highly aggressive builds run 100% glancing blow and some amount of health in between all the crit chance and extra damage.
I remember when I started LE - a couple of weeks later they nerfed the Bleeding Heart amulet interaction with Fire Shield.
When you casted a spell it would bleed you and trigger auto retaliates from Fire Shield - this was completely removed from the game instead of just being toned down
its sort of alarming when a developer completely removes a fun interaction and replaces it with nothing at all and doubles down on ‘you must be out of mana constantly or use a skill with no mana cost’

Boardman is actually showing how bad the balance is, by showing you just wear the same Chest/Boots on every build, stack HP/dodge. Theres no reason for resistance to exist as the 1:1EHP doesn’t work
3kHp is 3k resistance and its also ‘all resist’ as HP helps you with everything
yeah i agree with you ManiaCCC lol

Theres no reason for resistance to exist as the 1:1EHP doesn’t work
3kHp is 3k resistance and its also ‘all resist’ as HP helps you with everything
Except it’s significantly easier to leech back up to, say 1k hp while taking 1/3 the damage than it is to leech up to 3k hp while taking full damage (even though you’re loosing the same % of health on each version).
Edit: Also going from some of Boardman’s videos you could come to the conclusion that there is “no reason for hp to exist” since ward is so much more powerful & you can get 150k ward (on one character).
