The graphic for the Countdown to Season 5 mentions on Friday September 18th “Full trailer & website release”

I have seen the trailer.

What is the website release?

Below the graphic the first subject is “What you can expect”

I am expecting a trailer & a website. Thus far I only see a trailer.

Edit, I have seen the dev stream as well.

They probably mean the new page that has the season info:

Thank you for the info I missed.

Quick question: this page mentions a “seasonal mechanic”.

Does that means LE is moving to actual seasonal mechanics (mechanics available for a season)? Or is it just a very personal use of the word seasonal and everything remains permanent?

I do believe proper seasonal stuff would be good to get people to come back more. Yes, it is FOMO, but the entire business model is based on FOMO, doing seasons without seasonal mechanics is a bit pointless.

It works more then well without the FOMO, that portion is no issue.

And currently - and hopefully always - it’s a mechanic implemented that ‘season’, which is anything but a season anyway as it’s usually 2-3 seasons until a new season. LE-weather is unsteady.

That’s great to hear. I was under the impression things were not going more than well. Choosing a FOMO-based business model, then getting rid of its main ingredient, the FOMO, is a noble but challenging endeavour.

Yes, I have read on these forums this very peculiar definition before. That’s why I asked the question, actually.

Obviously, total nonsense in English. Everyone and everything was born or created during one season or another, yet not everything is seasonal. Must come from a hard-to-translate Eterrean word.

Or maybe, if I am more cynical… As seen in many threads, a lot of people assume that seasonal mechanic means the same in English and in Eterrean, and that the mechanic will disappear at the end of the season, as it should. Could it be phrased that way on purpose, to trigger the badly needed FOMO with plausible deniability?

Yeah, but that’s not based on the league mechanics.

It’s the organizational aspects and quality control primarily.

The implementation methodology of the league mechanics in LE doesn’t cause any negative outcomes, which is actually one of the major points other games of the genre should likely take as a learning moment and copy over.
Could be wrong too and I’m missing something, but at least it doesn’t seem like that to me with all the tried of wrangling my thoughts into a position where it actually would cause issues… and failing for a chance.

And… I fully agree calling the updates of LE anything seasonal or whatever is just… well… to stay cohesive with the naming of other games in the genre, has nothing with actual meaning to do.

I would say one of two options here.

Either it’s on purpose, to intentionally make use of the urge to come back sooner rather then later, keeping a steady eye out for updates instead of forgetting about the product as often happens otherwise.

Or - more likely plainly spoken - it’s them stumbling into that effect by pure luck and mistake, leading to a positive outcome for EHG. Making use of a expectation and the upsides of that expectation without the significant downsides of this specific portion that leads to the outcome.

Mind you, it seems to also break apart over time as the returning numbers seem to showcase, with people realizing ‘there is no rush’ and hence biding their time, which leads to less engagement and income. Which is what I say about FOMO… short-term win, long-term losses. Remove it and you get short-term losses and long-term wins.

The question is solely on the stability long-term to reach that effect actually doing its task.

PS:

Yes, the argument about ‘there is no negative about the methodology’ and the ‘short-term / long-term’ aspects are untenable positions to each other.

Forgot to explain.
The same function can be created with time-based competition events and reaches the same outcome, leaderboards, ladders overall, actual small-price competitions.
It is not tied to the implementation of the mechanics inherently is my meaning there.

It dawned on me what is missing on this calendar. What day does all of this hit on lastepochtools? @Dammitt

Typically same day as patch notes, won’t be any earlier than that.
