Cosmetic Store Pets/Followers NEED a Function!

Is the paid for character better than one that’s levelled up normally? Do they get extra stuff that’s not available to normal characters? This sounds like pay for convenience rather than buying a “better” character. How is this different to the €60 WoW character boost tokens that have been around for the past decade or so? Did the internet erupt back then as well?

As long as the person playing 10 hours gets 5 times as much stuff it’s all nice & “balanced”.

Yeah, one of the things Babylon 5 taught me is that I’m glad life isn’t fair, since that means we don’t always deserve all the bad shit that happens to us. This fact is one of the things that keeps my personality so nice & happy & fluffy.

No, but when a new season starts, while the normal player has to slog for a few days to get to endgame, other players can just pay and start doing endgame immediately, having an obvious advantage over others. Not even sure why you’re defending this, tbh. Would you be ok if LE had a shop item that makes your character lvl 100 instantly?

I never really liked WoW and I’ve never played it. But from what I’ve seen, it’s far from a peaceful issue. Lots of players complain about it. And I think the thing that made it a little less controverse is that you can also buy that with in-game gold. Also, when you use one, you get locked out of raids for 24h.

It is. And the only reason that players don’t mind it is because PoE is a free game and this is the only thing they sell that gives you an advantage. But if you want to sell items, for example, you have to pay money to be able to do so.

But what if it was unavailable for the first week of a league? Not sure why you’re even bringing this up since we know that the non-league players will be able to play league content with their lvl 100 1k+ corruption characters which will give them a massive advantage over anyone else

No, if you want to sell items easily without having to spam the cancer that is trade chat then you have to buy some tabs. Even with trade tabs PoE trade isn’t a particularly enjoyable experience, but it is possible without them.

There really isn’t an advantage, though. Non-league players will have lvl 100 characters for this, but so will every other non-league player. Likewise, league players have to start at lvl 1, but so does every other league player. They don’t compete for the same thing and each player in each realm has the same starting point.

Personally, I’m not sure if I like that model, as opposed to PoE’s, but that’s another issue not relevant to this topic.

Doesn’t really make a difference, does it? Bottom line is that you’re paying money so you don’t have to play the game. Or so you don’t have to play the 2 days it would take you to get there.
That’s basically all P2W is. Paying money so you can skip parts of the game/gameplay other people can’t.

It ends up being the same. If you want to sell a dozen items you just dump them in a tab and maybe someone will buy it, so you don’t have to waste hours of chat spamming.
Technically, PoE tabs are P2W, but it’s just widely accepted as the price to play PoE if you want to be more than a really casual player. And only because PoE is free to start with.
I’m pretty sure people would have been up in arms if PoE had to be bought like LE and then also had tabs. Or, at the very least, way less successful than it was in the early years.

I have like 50 stash tabs in POE. I use maybe 5 of them (not counting the specialty tabs) each league. I’d rather play the actual game, than play Farmer’s Market Simulator™.

As for the rest of this, it all just boils down to everyone being so jaded by the POS market gaming in POE, that they want to be the first, so they can be the ones gaming the market.

Which just brings me to:
Mr Bean GIF - Mr Bean Race GIFs

Not only I would be perfectly OK with it, I would go as far as saying EHG should probably do it.
If people are silly enough to first pay for a game, then pay much more to be allowed not to play the game, it feels wrong to refuse their money.

However, LE would probably loose customers who refuse by principle to play a “P2W” game, even if the argument doesn’t make sense most of the time.
Maybe they should sell such an item only on non-league?

Even if it was locked fpr the first week. U bought player power via lvls. With real money

Did the paying player earn that power by playing the game. No. That is what p2w is. That is in no way pay for convenience.

This as well as the monthly sub to wow os why i never played wow. Except for when friends gave me a free month even then i hardly played it.

I mean, it came with the 5th expansion, so if you weren’t playing it by then, I doubt that the level service was the final straw

Correct its part of it for me its the monthly sub

WoW level boost is only to level which is starter lvl for current expansion so you cant skip current content. It is good for alts mostly or if you skip few expansions and going back with new one.

Looting pets are great QoL but basic one should be free for all. It was pain to run over gold in D3 and it was huge QoL when they added pets for this. I play Lost Ark sometime and pets picking up everything which is even better. D4 is back to where D3 was on release so I take it as regression.

It is even more visible in LE when you also try to click on shards and other loot and character is moving back and forth because item is on another place then his label so you spend more time with looting then killing.

We will not sell MTX which provide power or convenience. If there was ever a pet in the shop that picked up items, it would only be a skin for the normal in-game pet you get that has that functionality. Though I believe it’s highly unlikely we would add any sort of pickup pet.

It’s exactly the opposite, people are so used to P2W and microtransactions, that they think this kind of thing is normal.

Cosmetic Items must always be cosmetic.
Any QoL must be implemented in the game by default, and not paid…

Because it’s a small thing doesn’t mean it’s acceptable.

(EHG has no plans for this sort of thing, and I appreciate that)

i would buy a level 60/70 and i did played the game a lot. I would still level as well btw just like i did in games who did had this option.
I love tinkering around with uniques and hipster builds in endgame with different masteries and classes. This costs a lot of time leveling, especially in cycle over and over.
I don’t always have the time to level and prefer a quick hop in and do what i feel like.

It’s just playing the game differently.
I do get why EHG is not adding this though.
I love to read comments about OH THIS IS UNFAIR, most players don’t even race and yes for the market i get why it could be unfair. How about after two weeks in the cycle being able to buy a level 100 (to stay on topic)? Would that be fair?

Would that hurt your experience? Lets be honest, you wouldn’t probably notice anything about it. Its in my opinion probably the thought that someone else didn’t had to do the same hurdles as the rest feels like HEY that’s not fair!

Often it’s a lot about bad feelings (in my opinion), instead of other players being affected by someone buying a level 100 ingame (after a few weeks or after a month to not screw the market).

Let me give an example:
If i would be able to respec my character it wouldn’t affect your gameplay.
For a lot of people however it doesn’t feel right. You should earn it be releveling (those are some actual answers on the forum).

Long story short. Other players wouldn’t be affected with any of their characters if i used a respec for my mastery right?
Despite this it still feels unfair for some people. This is a feeling and prefered vision on how a game should be played (and preference). Which is fine of course, i don’t feel like everyone realises this.

I reflected on certain views i have and asked myself the question, does it really affect me? How important is it? Sometimes my view changes and sometimes i still think in the name of my vision it should be like that. Iam not sure if i made my point correctly haha

I love that EHG is giving us two options with factions trade. This probably pleases most players. And even than you could make a point about, hey but isnt that unfair? He can trade all those things, you should earn it by playing and grinding those yourself. See what i mean?

Yes, it is.

Yes, paying for QoL can = P2W.

If they provide for free some basic pet that does the same thing, and all you do is pay for pet skins? I suppose that’s okay. Personally I’m against cash shops in non-f2p games as is anyway.

EHG could add such a Minion to unlock in Main story and the ability to change its view though the minis from the shop

then it wont be pay2win and every1 is fine

thats no problem for me, cause youve already a great lootfilter-system.

just would add my thoughts to the Topic named “Cosmetic Store Pets/Followers NEED a Funktion”

If they didn’t have a cash shop, they’d need to sell expansions (DLC in the traditional sence from bsck in the 80s/90s), but that would split the community into multiple groups (those who did/did not buy each expansion) and if there was any source of power creep (which is either common or to be expected) then they’d be accused of selling power/p2w.
