Corrupt palate allows my Abom to cast a necortic spell, it should be granting him both Necrotic and spell tags (which is +5 skill points in my current build). But it does not…
Doing similar things in all my other minions grants tag to the core minion. Take a fire wraith node gives my core wraths spell and fire tags even if I don’t actually summon a fire wraith for example.
The node isn’t converting the Abom. So it’s not the same thing. The fire wraith actually replaces the minion. You get a new one that only does fire damage and not physical.
The node is just giving him a skill. It’s similar to the fire archer skill you can give your skeletons. They won’t stop doing physical damage, so they’re still a physical minion. They just get a fire skill which they shoot every now and then.
Same for Abom. He’s still a physical minion. He’ll still be doing physical damage. He just uses a necrotic skill every now and then.
First case gets a tag, second one doesn’t.

Fun fact, in nearly that exact case giving my skeletons cold archer skill node DOES give them the cold tag and thus +3 skill levels from my Apogee of Frozen light…
So Yea… corrupt palate should act the same way as cold/fire arrow, which does give them the tag.
Giving skeletons a fire arrows skill gives them the fire tag.
Giving skeletons a cold arrows skill gives them the cold tag.
Giving zombies the ability to vomit gives them the poison tag and the Damage-Over-Time (DOT) tag.
Giving Death Knights the death blossom skill gives them the Spell tag (note: This means they count as spell casting minions for purposes of things like Raven Roost giving +2 to spell casting minions, not that your Summon Mages skill counts as a spell. And yes, they do originally lose the spell tag from skeletal mages when converted to death knights. Giving them the death blossom skill makes them get it back).
So why the heck does the Abomination get NO TAGS from ANY OF ITS NODES WHATSOEVER?
It can get a poison aura! NO POISON NOR DOT TAGS. It has a bow skill. NO BOW TAG. It has a skill that converts ALL its normal melee attacks into a necro attack. NO NECRO TAG. It can get its own hungering souls spell. NO SPELL TAG.
Like seriously, what the heck?
