Not sure if it’s just me but I thought once the online servers went down for the day we could log into our offline characters to play?
Perhaps I misunderstood something in the process between shut down and cycle 2 tomorrow.
You can play in true offline, not in the “false” offline. There is an option in steam when launching the game that allows you to run fully offline. Only that option is available during server downtime.

This is the first time I heard of two different offllines, lol. Let alone noticed anything in the Steam app.
What is the difference between real and fake offline, if anything?

The fake offline still allows you to use microtransations etc.
Fake offline means you still connect to the server and you can even use chat. That’s basically it. This was the old offline option that was available pre-launch. With 1.0, they added a truly offline client that doesn’t need servers.
You can go to the properties of the game in LE and change this:
I’m pretty sure it doesn’t, because that was an issue before launch. But I haven’t played offline with either mode, so I can’t confirm.

Full Offline doesn’t require an internet connection to play the game, & your saves are saved Locally.
So make sure you make backups if you want to save the characters or transfer them to another P.C

So the characters and progress we made in cycle 1 are not in full offline then, I assume?

If you played offline, they will still be in your PC. I don’t know if the game uses different folders for both offline modes, but I see no reason for it to do so.
So you should have all offline characters available in both offline modes. If not, you can simply copy from one to the other. Searching the forum might give you an idea where they are stored.
Can we even play cycles/seasons offline to begin with?
I’m in full offline now and I only see my old characters from way back in beta, it appears.

Yes. The content for offline is the exact same as online. You can play both legacy and cycle while offline.
You can even join MG, even though you’ll get nothing from it and is a waste.
It’s possible they use different folders to save character info. Try searching the forums for save file locations and see if you find which is which.

Even in full offline, I cant play. Either using any of my old legacy full offline chars or creating a new one from scratch, It loads for a few secs and then it returns me back to the OFFLINE MODE main menu. Sad.
Are you sure you’re launching in Full Offline Mode?
I just logged into one of my offline characters & was able to play.
This is a bug with Steam. Reselect Full Offline mode from the Steam menu and it should work. The same thing happened to me. Even though I had it set to Full Offline and was playing that way since the game’s release, today it started into “Fake Offline” for me. After reselecting the mode it was working again.

Bought the game today and started playing, had to log off for a bit, come back, servers down for 24 hours… what a great way to start.
No luck today but keep ya head up for tomorow 
i selected play full offline in my settings and i still cant play…hmm
edit- you can only play if you made separate offline characters before?
I can, i just need to pick the option which pops up when i start it on steam to full offline
