Title. Audio clipping starts anytime from shortly after the start of play or an hour or two in.
Sorry about that. This is a known bug. Should be resolved next hotfix. Let us know after the hotfix if the sound clipping persists. Thank you.
Is this in reference to 0.8.4b? It’s definitely still happening to me on this patch, if so.
Thank you for remembering to get back to me! With the limited time we had we weren’t able to address this bug in the first hotfix unfortunately. Look for it in the next upcoming patch.

Sadly, the issue still persists in 0.8.4c:
Just throwing out a random armchair developer guess, but maybe limiting the number of simultaneous death sounds (if that’s not something being done already) would help with this issue? That’s usually when it seems to occur, is lots of kills at the exact same time.
Issue continues for myself also.

Running a moderately high end sound card (Audient EVO-4) with latest drivers. Fire sorcerer, using Volcanic Orb on giant crabs usually triggers it, but it also strikes randomly.
Same exact issue here.
All machine drivers updated, nothing is changing.
Only the “sound effect volume” track seems affected, music is running ok for me, voices also.
Playing Werebear upheval and nothing has changed with 0.8.4.c.

Edit : muting sound effects does not suppress the issue, it’s just reduced
We had another fix today. Let us know if this one works to resolve the issues you are seeing.
