If I recall correctly, those numbers were the number of times Uber had been killed, not how many individual people had killed Uber.

So one person playing ES VK killing him 100 times in one season would add 100 to the total rather than 1. That’s not 100 viable builds and 100 people killing him, it’s 1 and we really don’t have any numbers on how many individual people actually killed Uber in Season 2, so that data doesn’t give us a lot of information when trying to figure out how many uber viable builds there are.

Mike stated in his dev-stream that it were individual characters killing Uberroth.

Not individual people… but characters.

So the numbers from the Reddit link are the ones for individual kills in total 2 weeks after release, including all game-types, be it HC, SSF; Legacy, Cycle… all included. Which means the majority of kills happened in Legacy obviously, a given as least prep is needed.

So there were over 2100 VK characters which killed Uberroth and each of them could’ve potentially killed him 100 times… which obviously didn’t happen, but the kill-count is at least existing.

Still a drop from a bucket of total players, there were after all at least 250k individuals playing in 1.3, very very likely many more. Concurrent players alone were 80k peak if I remember right.

Or to put it into perspective: Killing Uberroth would’ve been similar to achieving a 0,1% achievement globally on Steam.

How many of those 250k play even far enough into corruption to even try Uby?

PoE has actually achievements.
Uberroth can be compared to Maven kinda as the positioning is fitting to what Maven would be in PoE.

Since achievements exists for PoE 2,6% of players killed Maven, total.

That’s 26 times the amount of kills taken into consideration in terms of achievements, so we would’ve needed the VK number to be around 50k instead of 2100 to be equivalent.
If we wanna be lenient and half it to give leeway then 25k still.

That’s how out of place Uberroth is in terms of positioning versus the ability to beat it.
Comparatively one of the - reasonable - achievements with the absolute lowest rate of being finished in PoE is ‘Listen to all NPC conversations’ which mandates to know exactly when to talk to whom as many options only pop up at specific points and in a specific order. 1,1% achieved it.
Which is even with the doubling more then 5 times more people doing that.

If we show Grim Dawn instead the least achieved achievement would be ‘Conquer the 10th Shard of the Shattered Realm on Ultimate Difficulty in Hardcore Mode’.
This enforces that people have the Forgotten Gods DLC. Then it demands people to play HC. And then it demands them to finish a quite high level of content inside of that as it scales very hard.
How many do you think even attempt that comparatively?
2,5 times more people achieved it then Uberroth.

In Chronicon it would be a 0,9% achievement, obtaining all Anomalous Runes for the Mechanist. Which demands playing the mechanist, reaching not only end-game but doing a quite long-term grind to randomly drop thise.
4,5 times as many people.

Dungeon Siege 3 would be the lowest one to complete the game with a 4 group party, 1%. 5 times as high.

It’s a absolutely atrocious completion rate beyond any reason. Nigh all of the things in comparison are either nonsensical achievements nobody would go after - and still the rate is higher - or content which is just extremely grindy. All higher. Without fail.

I feel like the hardest part of uberroth is having the patience to even get there.

And yeah, much like the Grim Dawn one, or the Chronicon one. It’s the prep-phase which takes long.

And that one in LE takes ages… and even then only a fraction of classes can reasonably try to even beat Uberroth.
