So, the Embrace the Darkness node grants more damage vs blinded and attack speed, the attack speed definitely works, but I can’t find any circumstance where damage is boosted vs blind enemies when using the Myopia node. Either Myopia is not providing blind, or the damage bonus isn’t working.
In a small test I found my damage may have been decreasing vs affected enemies, but I did not thoroughly investigate.
I’ve tested Myopia a couple of days ago and it seems it doesn’t apply the default blind effect (unless you spec into the Fiery Chasm node for the ignite chance). So, that might be the cause of you not benefiting from “Embrace The Darkness” bonus. The latter might not be working either, but I can’t comment on that as I haven’t tested that case.
I ran some tests shortly after my previous comment. Here’s the description of the test arrangement and my conclusion:
This time around I crafted a weapon that only had the blind chance suffix. This was done since Myopia doesn’t work, as mentioned in my previous post. I stripped my character of all other items and passives. Then the test began.
I hit the enemy to apply the blind and also applied Abyssal Echoes/Decay, with only one point in Vorpal Reverberation, to the enemy dummy right after. I repeated that process a couple of times to make sure I have the correct damage number. Then I specced into Embrace the Darkness with four points and repeated that process a couple of times again.
What I found is that Embrace the Darkness does increase the damage but it seems to still be an “increased” (additive) DoT damage modifier instead of a “more” (multiplicative) global one. So, it seems only the skill node description was changed but not its mechanics.
For some reason it does work (apply blind) once you spec into the Fiery Chasm (ignite chance) node.
This game definitely needs some consistency and better QA processes.
Yeah, I’m currently reading the patch notes. But they only seem to have fixed one of the problems. Myopia still isn’t working without the Fiery Chasm node. And Embrace the Darkness (Nether Coating) still triggers from Void Cleave and its Resonating Cleave node, which it shouldn’t because that is a trigger and not a direct cast.
Were you guys able to test the damage bugfix? I’m not really seeing much of improvement in damage or results testing with other skills(for both self cast and void cleave procced).
